When it comes time for summer, there is a certain portion of the population, regardless of size, that shudders at the idea of wearing summer shorts. Even though women will bear their legs in skirts and dresses, there are those who feel that shorts are just not for them style-wise.
As a plus size woman who carries the majority of my weight in my hips and thighs, I grapple with whether shorts are right for me. They seem to cut off my legs in just the most unflattering way. However, I am making a trip to Belize this summer where it will be very warm, and I need to find a pair of plus size shorts that flatter.
Here are two of my best options in two different lengths.
Short Shorts:

Tommy Hilfiger Plus Size Shorts, $45
As far as short shorts go, these aren't as skimpy as they could be, but I've got a good amount of booty to cover. I like these shorts because they look like a favorite pair of jeans but just short. I like the wash of denim too, not too dark or too light.
Long:
Addition Elle Women's Plus Size Twill Shorts, $49.99
As far as long shorts go, I picked a khaki pair, because I felt that the lighter color made the transition from shorts to bare leg a little more subtle than seeing a dark color cut off to my pasty white legs at the knee. I think to elongate the leg, I would wear these with some platform espadrilles.
What would be your pick, short or long?
