Blood Red Nails On Your Fingertips
Shades of red are keeping ladies polished this Fall season. Providing an air of mystery and sophistication, the perfect way to polish your nails is with a dark red color. The very first manicures were done in red, dating back to the Chinese over five-thousand years ago. Nail polish as we know it today, was developed for the modern woman by the legendary Max Factor in 1925. Now, nail polish is everywhere and a dark red shade is a must-have for this season.
Priced around $6, check out OPI’s Mrs. O’Leary’s BBQ nail polish. Finger-lickin' good and perfect for application when the boys are barbecueing. Described by OPI as, “A deliciously saucy shade of molasses,” this color is perfect for any skin type. If you’re not afraid of the cold, wear it while tailgating and impress the fellas as they barbecue before the game.
For women interested in a dark berry shade, Essie’s Red Label nail polish provides a shiny lacquer for even the most refined palettes. I recently stepped out wearing a dark red shade, and felt very glamorous sipping a glass of matching red wine.
OPI’s Wanted…Red or Alive is a classic and true red that’s sure to set off sirens, while not as dramatic as darker burgundy. Wear it with matching red lipstick and find yourself in hot pursuit, wanted as any felon.
No matter which shade of red you choose, you really can't go wrong. Remember to keep nails short and apply a thin coat of clear nail polish daily to keep them enchanting. Need a little more red?

Red...the darker the better for me!
I'm currently wearing OPI Bogota Blackberries on my toes, a deep maroon with subtle shimmer. It looks great with a tan and sandals.
Another good one (but I think it's been discontinued): Revlon Crimson Shimmy.
Being a guy, I have to stay away from the "fire engine reds" or I'll look like a tart. The darker colors work for both guys and gals (at least that what my wife tells me!).
